Small hand woven U-shaped market basket from Ghana, West Africa.

The Bolgatanga District, in the Upper East Region of Ghana,  is well known for it's abundant Elephant grass.  Skillful artisans dry and dye this Elephant grass, then weave into beautiful baskets and fans for daily use.  maninya sources these baskets and fans via Fair Trade, allowing for proceeds to provide for food, household allowances, and education. 

Each basket is hand crafted and dyed. One-of-a-kind, no two are alike.  Use to hold fruit, a remote holder, for arts & crafts, supplies, accessories, carry-along for outdoor events or any number of other uses! 

Measurements: app 12" tall, including handle.

NOTE: This basket comes shaped, not flattened.

If basket becomes misshapen:
1. Place in cold water 45 seconds, moving basket around, in water. 
2. Allow water to run off, and grass to absorb, for 4-5 minutes.  
3. Reshape/mold basket.  
4. Set outside, to dry completely.
